I'm sure you are all wondering where I've been.
I was at the beach for a week. What's it to ya?
Some thoughts:
- Seems like I've been missing a lot of work lately. I wouldn't say I've been missing it, Bob.
- I heard about that awful shooting in Mt. Pleasant Township all the way in Cape May, NJ. Now the taxpayers get to foot the bill to keep that coward alive. Super.
- I just read Bird's post on the Pirates draft. I vote the Pirates bypass all of those prospects and take the 20th best prospect instead.
- I heard all about that umpire blowing the call that cost a dude a perfect game. The classy Detroit pitcher, Armando Galarraga, said afterwards that "nobody's perfect." Well, Armando, you would've been if the ump didn't blow the call.
- Hopefully BP fixes that oil leak before 2011. I was going to make a political remark here, but I'll save that for my next phone conversation with Bird.
- I don't know why I do it to myself, but I read Dejan Kovacevic again this morning. Sure enough, he was praising another former Pirate while I was away. GLORY DAYS!!! Might be time to seek professional help, dude.
Come to think of it, I should've stayed at the beach...
Still on the anti Tony Sanchez bandwagon I see....Show me one of the guy's they passed on who is off to a better start. I'll save you the legwork. There isn't one except Mike Leake (but he was never in the discussion and the Pirates would have been crushed for taking him as a soft tossing college guy).
ReplyDeleteIts becoming a bit obvious that the Pirates knew/saw something other teams didn't with Sanchez.
And I was going to write about the Dejan article but didn't think it was anywhere near the level of the McLouth love fest. Of course you hated DERF though.
ReplyDeleteIf only the Bucs would have kept that 2008 team together...They would be paying 80+ million for their likely 70 wins with still few prospects. Glory Days indeed.
You're right...you should always take the 20th best prospect in the draft when you have a top 5 pick. Good recipe for success.
ReplyDeleteWhat did the Pirates know about Sanchez that other teams didn't? He's in single A.
As for Dejan, this definitely wasn't as bad as the McLouth love fest.
ReplyDeleteHe seems to love guys like Freddy, Jack, Doug Mentkeieieiewicisisiscc, Nate, Matt Capps, etc, because he got to know them. That's fine and dandy for him--but he should leave us out of it.
